Choosing A Non-Linear Life

Growing up, I expected my life to move “linearly”, one set of progressions after another.

In my career: School then job then promotions.

In my personal life: School then dating then marriage, then maybe children.

The house. The family. The career. “Having it all.”

6 years ago, that all changed for me. I was on an upward trajectory in my career but on a downward slope for my personal life. Overweight, passion-less, using food/alcohol/other to numb me from my life. And then I hit a crossroads of a health crisis and began to change my life.

Yet - for the past 6 years, my life had again moved linearly! Every step I took led to the next step: Nutrition school to coaching. Coaching led to the discovery I wanted to live with my family. Moving to North Carolina set off a 3-year chain of events which has all culminated in a “peak” over the last 3 months.

Marriage. New House. Organization Change. Major Project Go-Live. New Pet.

So when you have been in linear action for so long… what happens when there are no more “next steps”?

…. Well, we are going to find out!

I’m embarking on a quest to figure out my “why bother?”

What are my deepest desire, what themes won’t “leave me alone”, how can I share my gifts with the world.

What happens when I accept that I am choosing to live life non-linearly?

What happens when I choose to seek out these transitions that may be “life shakers”?
