Root Down to Rise Up

Our society is obsessed with growing up and to the right.

More revenue, more profit, more followers, more clients, more time freedom.

And conventional business training teaches us how to grow and scale.

But we’re missing the real enabler.

We need to root down to rise up.

What are your roots?

Your roots include:

  • Your values

  • Your beliefs about yourself and the world

  • Your mission and message

  • Your gifts

  • Your physical, emotional, and spiritual capacity

As you’re growing your business or taking on a life goal, you always start with a spark. A spark of an idea.

You start planting a seed, tending to how that seed grows as a sprout and strengthening the foundation.

In business, this looks like trying out a message or program, getting feedback, and then going back to tweak, to edit, to deepen.

And each time you prepare to grow up… you’re circling back to your roots.

Checking in on your values, sharpening your message, clarifying your marketing process, being more attuned to how your body is showing up.

It’s not linear. It’s cyclical. Every growth spurt up is preceded by a deepening of the roots.

Contending with old beliefs and identities, integrating a message, even adding in operational streamlining and scaffolding for support.

So when you are frustrated by a lack of upward progress - because let’s be clear, society only rewards the external progress - remember that an equal if not more amount of work is happening under the surface.

We need to account for time for both the outward, visible progress but also for the deep soul-work happening under the surface.

You can’t rush root building.

If your roots aren’t deep, if your foundation isn’t strong, the tree topples over.
