What Are You Meant to Carry?

September is a time of transition - transitioning from the heat of summer to the crispness of fall. In normal years, we are transitioning from a time of summer play and summer planting to preparing for the fall harvest and school time. Beginning the process of drawing in and rooting down.

The work, the tasks, the burdens we carry should transition during the seasons, especially as we leave the fire of summer into the metal of fall - and our duty is to reflect on what we're meant to carry and what do we need to put down. This is the time that we let go of what’s not necessary to carry forward and make the best use of what we have. And that's in normal years. This time is not normal, and the urgency to critically look at what we're carrying, and how to best support ourselves in doing so, is heightened every day.

The inspiration for this month is the 10 of Wands from my teacher Lindsay Mack.

In the card above, we can see the burden of all of the weight he is carrying. There's no more room for one more wand, and it's an incredible strain to keep carrying all of these wands. That strain ultimately comes at a cost.

Traditional goal setting calls for us each quarter to reassess our tasks, our goals, and our objectives - which is something you should definitely do. But with Soul and Strategy, we look even higher at the callings, burdens, and work in our lives and businesses.

This time calls for us to reorient the relationships with the wands we carry to work, live, and create more sustainably.

What are we meant to put down?

We are meant to put down the work that isn't meant for us to carry (in life or business). What do we need to release to make space for new wands, let go of an old identity, or to make carrying the rest a little easier?

What is calling for us to pick up and carry?

The energies we started the year with are not the energies we carry now. The world is different than even just 9 short months ago. Your context has changed, your purpose or passions may have changed. What new life and new work do we need to create in this upcoming season?

What support do you need to make carrying your wands a little easier?

Maybe the work you're doing is the right work, meant for you. But we are not meant to carry all of our wands alone. And there might be an easier way to carry those wands.

It can be hard to ask for help. There might even be that little voice of shame and guilt in your mind. You might think, "Why can't I do it all? Others have it all together. I just need more time and to get it right before I ask for help."

But this time calls for you to reflect on what support you need and reach out to your community to ease what you carry. Acknowledging the level of support that you want, need, and desire in your life and business.

What are you meant to carry? How would it look and feel in your body if carrying your wands was just a little easier?
