Why Business Ebbs are Not Failures

Meet “Kourtney”

Kourtney is a more seasoned business owner. She’s gotten through the early bumps of her business and developed a set of products or coaching programs where there’s market fit.And yet... she’s not EXCITED any more.

Kourtney is longing for a different type of conversation, to go deeper into the arena or the wilderness. Or to serve a different dream. But we live in a society where we have to keep doing what we’re doing to pay for life. Kourtney knows that she’s on the precipice of a liminal space between chapters. So Kourtney throws her hands up: “I can’t go on in my business like this. But where do I start? What should I do next?

Kourtney is in Spiritual Overwhelm. And in need of Radical Reclamation.

The problem isn’t you or your perceived lack of congruency.

  • We are conditioned that ebbs in our business are a signifier of failure.

  • Most business coaches teach you how to grow or harvest. We are conditioned to always strive for more, for constant growth. We don’t normalize how to navigate the other seasons in your business like transition or sunset.

  • We live in a social-media sanitized world where only highs are celebrated and there’s enough noise to numb out during the lows.

But this is the reality of being human.

Consistent growth, consistent bloom is unsustainable for us - and for our environment.

We are seasonal, cyclical creatures. We ebb and flow, create and rest.

And it is very easy these days to always be busy, to be in constant movement to create enough noise to avoid listening.

Where does Kourtney go from here?

  • We connect to our body.

  • We reflect on our journey to date.

  • We honor the grief of letting go of old identities, old work.

  • We spend time “bothering” (h/t Jen Louden) and re-wilding our intuition (h/t Lindsay Mack).

  • We rest. We heal. We play.

  • We create for the sheer joy in creation and we learn to listen to the whispers of our calls.

We must learn to listen to the whispers of our souls and follow the glimmers of our intuition, in part because we don’t know the outcome. We don’t know what magic is possible on the other side.

This is a radical reclamation.
