My Declaration of (Business) Independence
When it becomes necessary to unhook from business as usual practices and reclaim practices for sustainable and human-centered businesses, we should declare the causes we are separating from.
Setting Aside the Quarterly Roadmap
A traditional strategy roadmap has a place. It's organized, structured, and straightforward to read and know what to do next. But if you’re not in a steady state place within your business, this model may not work for you.
Let’s explore new models in our planning.
Sustainable Strategy Invites FOMO
The call to take on everything at once, to maximize our time, to avoid the opportunity cost of time, is deeply ingrained in our society.
Our bucket lists are long. Our intentions are big. And we see on the internet or social media constantly what everyone else is doing. Why can’t that be us?
We feel the fear of missing out (FOMO). But what if FOMO were welcomed in our strategy?
North Stars and Next Actions
Relying on a linear and known plan cuts off the potential to realize MORE than our thinking mind can envision. And it's not explicitly designed to bring learning into the process. Let’s try a new model for strategic planning.
Strategy Shouldn’t be Linear
Traditional Strategy is linear.
It assumes a straight line, clearly outlined from point A to point B.
It assumes we know how long a task will take, the outcomes. It is predictable.
It has a short-term view, with results required each quarter.
But what if strategy was spiralic?
The (Unexpected) Grief of Letting Go
We’re excited to move forward! Tackle new challenges! Why would there be grief?
What is often not talked about is the sometimes unexpected grief of letting go.
What Are You Meant to Carry?
The work, the tasks, the burdens we carry should transition during the seasons, especially as we leave the fire of summer into the metal of fall - and our duty is to reflect on what we're meant to carry and what do we need to put down. This is the time that we let go of what’s not necessary to carry forward and make the best use of what we have. And that's in normal years. This time is not normal, and the urgency to critically look at what we're carrying, and how to best support ourselves in doing so, is heightened every day.
The Fallacy of a 10-Year Plan
For some people, dreaming that far in advance is unmanageable because they don’t know what they want. For others, it’s challenging to put down on paper a vision that feels so unachievable, where they might “fail”. And others find it an exercise in futility - because 10 years ago, they never could have imagined being where they are today. The fallacy is in believing that the plan is the point.
The 5 Costs of Misalignment
It can be easy to stay super busy by taking action in our lives and businesses. #productivity #hustleculture
But if the actions we are taking are not aligned to our deepest blueprint, our inner knowing, then we aren't truly operating in our highest gifts that will transform our revenue and results. We might be treading water, or "wasting time", instead of being laser-focused on what will drive traction.
Reclaiming Work and Worth
The focus on “more” can dilute our impact while simultaneously preventing us from ever feeling worth and worthy in our lives and business.
When Moving Forward is a Calling, not a Choice
Why I left a rising corporate career to strike out on my own as a Soul and Strategy coach and consultant.
Gratitude and Goal Setting
Gratitude and Goal Setting are two sides of a coin, as being reflective and appreciative for the positive in your life can open new doors.
Stay in Relationship to Your Soul and Strategy
The most important part of achieving your goals isn’t SETTING them. But instead having an ongoing RELATIONSHIP to your goals.
Let’s lay out the three questions to ask when reviewing your progress, to stay in relationship with your goals.
People Leadership is Hard
You’re burned out and you’re still hustling. You’re overworked and overwhelmed. Your body aches from being hunched over your laptop, rigid to withstand the stress. You carry the thoughts not only of yourself but of your team and your organization. And it’s HARD.
Why you should "start" before you start
So you’ve made it through Thanksgiving and now you’re just counting down the days until the winter holiday. You’re finishing your shopping, planning for the holidays… and 2021 objectives just seem so far away. 2021? That’s NEXT year! But why should you “start” your 2021 intentions in 2020?

Choosing A Non-Linear Life
What happens when you reach all of your goals? When you have been in linear action for so long… what happens when there are no more “next steps”?
